Sometimes in life you must take a break from the normal routine to follow a dream. For Stan and Sally Achey, this summer will be one of those times. For about 30 years, Stan has dreamed of riding his bicycle across this country.
Stan, Sally and Tucker (their Australian Shepherd pup) will drive to California, for their twin granddaughters' high school graduation. Stan will then dip his bike tires in the Pacific Ocean and set out for the Atlantic Ocean (where their daughter Luanne lives in Maine). Sally and Tucker will be his support crew, trying to kayak in as many places as possible along the way While this plan sounded great, it also seemed a little selfish. But what could they do to have this adventure be of benefit to someone else? After much consideration, they decided to pledge support to the CareNet Pregnancy Center of Rutland, Vermont for every mile biked and every location paddled. Then they decided to extend this offer of support to CareNet to others. Follow their progress through the log and picture diary on this website http://www.moonridgephotography.com and make your own pledge of support. You could pledge an amount per mile biked on a particular day, or in a particular state, or for every lake kayaked. Someone has already suggested pledging for each flat tire that Stan has to change. Be creative. Make it fun. Pledge by clicking on the link button below.
